India’s test kitchen winners – test kitchen storage cabinet
New Delhi, Nov 22: India’s national kitchen storage facility, India’s first commercial kitchen test kitchen, has won a key award at the Asia Pacific Food Innovation Challenge (APACFIC), the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) announced on Monday.
India’s National Kitchen Storage Facility (NKSF) won a Design Award for its innovative storage solution to enhance food safety and environmental sustainability.
The NKSF has also won a Technology Award, a Innovation Award and an Innovation Medal for its storage technology, which uses a process of high pressure liquid immersion to store food and other waste items for longer.
The storage system is based on a combination of liquid immersion and a thermal system, the FAO said.
The NKSFs innovative storage system has been tested in India for the first time.
“The innovative storage method has been developed with the aim of improving the quality of food products,” FAO Director-General Antonio Guterres said.
This innovative storage process has been applied in India to ensure food safety, as it has the potential to reduce foodborne diseases, and to provide enhanced food security for consumers, Guterre said.
“The NksF is a new food storage facility and, as such, it needs to be fully integrated in the Indian food supply chain to benefit the overall health of the population,” Guterren said.
